We Stand Together
Award Winning Short Documentary
Synopsis
We Stand Together is a two-time award-winning short documentary that has been showcased at festivals and screenings around the world, highlighting a remarkable group of women who have built one of the strongest, most supportive paddling events within Alberta’s local paddleboarding community. At its core, the film captures more than just the event itself—it tells the story of connection, resilience, and the power of community. Through shared experiences on the water, these women have created a space that uplifts, encourages, and empowers participants of all backgrounds and skill levels. What started as a gathering has grown into something far more meaningful: a movement rooted in inclusivity and support. By bringing this story to life, We Stand Together celebrates the impact of coming together, showing how a passionate group can shape a culture that extends far beyond sport, reaching audiences both locally and internationally.
Why We Created This Story
We told this story to highlight the power of women supporting women. In a space that can often feel competitive or intimidating, this event stands out as something different—built intentionally as a place where women can show up, feel welcomed, and lift each other up without judgment. What drew us in was the sense of community that goes far beyond paddleboarding. It’s about creating an environment where confidence is built, voices are encouraged, and shared experiences turn into lasting support systems. The strength of this event isn’t just in the sport itself, but in the way it brings people together and fosters genuine connection. We wanted to capture and share that energy—to show what’s possible when women create space for one another to grow, lead, and succeed together.
